Until recently, my wife & I were the owners of a property in Jersey Road, Artarmon. We did not buy the property through Laing + Simmons at Artarmon but allowed the Principal of that firm, Ms Catherine Ong, and her Property Officer, Mr Carmelo Vitale, to mage the renting of the property.

I first met Catherine Ong in 2005 when my son was looking to buy his first home. Whilst James did not buy a property through Catherine, we were both impressed with her professionalism yet friendly manner.

In January 2007, James decided to rent his property and contacted several local agents, including Catherine to discuss this letting. Without a doubt Catherine far excelled the other agents with her rental proposal. She vetted the tenants carefully and gained a very attractive rent, whilst keeping her commission at a very reasonable rate.

Subsequently, she manages James’ property to this day. After seeing Catherine’s superior handling of James’ property, I asked her to manage an investment of mine- again with very pleasing results. In December 2007 I decided to sell this property. Knowing Catherine’s abilities and being aware of the market, I did not seek any other agents’ opinion as I had an informed idea of what I considered the property to be worth.

Catherine’s valuation exceeded my estimation and she produced a solid marketing campaign. Not only did the property sell in the first week after “one open for inspection”, but the price gained exceeded the asking price.

Thank you so much for all your efforts in securing such a wonderful sale of my parents’ unit in Jersey Road.

As you know, it was a difficult road. We had extremely uncooperative tenants, which required a lot of extra management on your behalf. Then when we thought we had a definite purchaser, it was extremely disappointing when their finance never seemed to eventuate.

Anybody else would have been extremely disheartened at this stage, but apparently, not you. We were obviously absolutely delighted then when not only did you come up with another purchaser so quickly but one who offered an even higher price than the original purchaser!

The other thing that could have made the sale of the unit difficult was that I was acting on behalf of my parents so that all major decisions had to be referred back to them. Any miscommunication would have proved a nightmare. Amazingly however, we didn’t have any problems whatsoever as all your communications were exceptionally clear.
